Probably one of the most common food items has to be butter because no matter which part of the world you are visiting there is always some sort of buttery recipe. Butter can be a great source of fat and protein in your regular healthy diet.

When there are so many companies working hard to produce some of the most refined butter for us finding the right brand can be a bit hard. So why not check out what Costco offers with the Kirkland brand and talk about who makes Kirkland Butter? (hint, Aurora Organics makes Costcos Dairy Products!)

About Kirkland Signature Brand

I am sure all of us are familiar with Costco, the membership-based retailer chain company that is well-known to us for the excellent deal that the company provides. Although Costco always sold products from other brands they wanted to start their brand.

To keep that in mind, Costco started its personal brand Kirkland Signature. All Kirklandโ€™s products are exclusively sold at Costco and this successful brand is responsible for one-third of Costcoโ€™s annual Revenue.

Kirkland products are not manufactured by Costco there is always a prominent manufacturer behind every Kirkland brand.

So where is the Kirkland brand manufactured? Costco works with a lot of manufacturers and some of their products are from the US. Although it is not possible to accurately describe how many products are from the USA.

Kirkland Butter is no different from this, so who makes Kirkland Butter? Aurora Organics is responsible for all the Kirkland dairy products including butter.

About The Manufacturer

Aurora Organic Dairy is one of the largest dairy companies in the USA, based in Boulder, Colorado this dairy farm operates lots of factory farms with thousands of cows on each farm. Aurora daily is one of the largest providers of dairy products in stores like Walmart, Costco, etc.

Marc Peperzarc started Aurora Organic Dairy in 2003 as a farm and Bottling plant in Denver. Auro Dairy has worked hard to provide the highest quality and the company expanded with 53,000 cows in 2005.

Aurora Organic had to face a lawsuit for alleged violations of the organic laws, and the United States Department of Agriculture sanctioned the lawsuit. Eventually, Aurora agreed not to sell any dairy products from the cows that were not 100% organic.

Unfortunately, Aurora reportedly broke the deal with the government again and had to face another lawsuit in 2009 and had to pay $7.5 million in class action lawsuits over deceptive trade practices in the organic milk business.

Is Kirkland Brand Butter Good?

Kirkland is known for some excellent products at reasonable prices without compromising quality. Is it the same case with the Kirkland Brand of butter? Let us deep dive and talk about all the essential factors from Kirkland butter and let you be the judge if it is a good choice for you.

๐Ÿ”น Price

Kirkland Butter Price is in the reasonable range compared with the other brands. Four pounds of Kirkland Butter will cost you around $10.

๐Ÿ”น Ingredients

From the packaging, Kirkland Butter Ingredients are:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Pasteurized milk,
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Natural Flavoring,
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Milk and salt.

๐Ÿ”น Nutrition Facts

From per tablespoon or 14gm of Kirkland Butter, you will receive about 100 calories and some nutritional facts are:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ 11 grams of total fat,
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ 30 mg of cholesterol
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Zero carbs and protein etc.

๐Ÿ”น Is Kirkland Butter Organic?

USDA has a standard that a dairy industry has to follow to call itself organic milk. Still, in 2017 a Washington Post Article mentions how Aurora does not provide a necessary gazing period to its animals despite having โ€œgrass-fedโ€ milk.

Virginia Tech Scientists also did research and failed to find essential fatty acids like conjugated linolenic acid (CDA) and alpha-linolenic. You will find these fatty acids if that is grass-fed milk. It is safe to call them conventional milk rather than organic.

Since the lawsuit in 2009, Aurora Organic is under close surveillance by USDA. Although the founder of Aurora Organic Marc claims otherwise. According to Marc, Aurora follows all the standards of USDA for better and healthy milk.

Despite the recent watchdog investigation in 2017 Auroraโ€™s dairy products can be found in big-chain retailers like Costco and all the Kirkland dairy products are also made by them. USDA also certified them 100% organic.

๐Ÿ”น Salt

You will not get an unsalted version of butter from Kirkland. At this time Kirkland butter has a significant amount of salt in it.

Kirkland Butter Review

Kirkland butter was one of our fan favorites when we looked them up, so why not check out the finest butter from Kirkland and see what you think about it!

๐Ÿ”น Kirkland Grass Feed Butter Review

Before we start talking about the product let us talk about what is grass-fed and why you should go for grass-fed butter. The nutritional content of any dairy product highly depends on what the animals are being fed.

When we mention grass-fed butter, that means cows on the farm are growing organically by feeding grass. Also, Grass-fed butter has some high nutritional value that can be very healthy for you.

๐Ÿ”ธ Taste

To test the taste, we compared it with another fantastic grass-fed butter Kerrygold. In the taste test, we found less salt content in the Kirkland butter. If you add additional salt with the Kirkland butter you will find the taste between these two brands is almost indistinguishable.

Another reason can be Kerrygold has more solid content per unit mass than Kirkland butter.

๐Ÿ”ธ Grass-Fed Content

Kirkland claims its butter is 95% grass feed which may not be perfect but most of the grass-fed brand does the same 95% grass-fed content.

You can get this product from your local Costco retailer or their official website.

Conclusion

Kirkland butter has been an excellent product at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the controversy with Aurora Organic has made some consumers a bit uncomfortable with the Kirkland butter despite having a 100% organic rating from the USDA.

From a regular customer perspective, we found Kirkland butter healthy and tasty for all sorts of people. Kirkland butter can be a great choice for you as a regular food habit.
